Elpida Hadzi-Vasileva to mentor 'a space' artists

Established artist Elpida Hadzi-Vasileva will be giving a talk discussing her artistic practice, recent commissioned projects and residencies at John Hansard Gallery at midday on Saturday 21st March. Following the talk Elpida is offering up to three one-to-one sessions to artists affiliated to ‘a space’. These are being offered to Arches studio holders with any remaining slots then being offered to artists on the RIPE Graduate programme.

The opportunity is one of a series of Arts Council supported talks and mentoring sessions being offered by Elpida that also sees her appearing at Bow Arts Trust in London and Ovada in Oxford.

Elpida works across varied media of sculpture, installation, video, sound, photography and architectural interventions. In 2013 she represented North Macedonia at the 55th International Venice Biennale. In the same year her site specific installation, Resuscitare, was installed within the grounds of the Nation Trust’s Mottisfont and was commissioned as part of artSOUTH.

Following her talk at the John Hansard Gallery audiences are encouraged to make their way to God’s House Tower for the exhibition launch of Those Who Look Out & Those Who Look Back by Laura Eldret & Paul Vivian. The exhibition, which ‘ruptures the space of God’s House Tower, with kitsch bosson heads, t-shirts and wet towels that speak of a merchandising of the waves; and fabric works, a video and choral voices’  welcomes the public to a launch event runs from 3pm until 5pm.
