Letter to a City of the Future

On 28th June ‘a space’ arts’s Artist Development Officer, Alys Scott-Hawkins, was invited to give a mini-keynote speech at the City Culture Conference.

Alys is a Southampton based artist that works with drawing and animation. Having been asked to talk today about what makes an artist-friendly city, she took that question to artists she’d met with.

The result was a letter to a future Southampton following an open invitation for feedback on twitter, about what an artist friendly city should look like, thanks to those who responded;
Claudia Friend, sarah filmer, Sarah Maccario, Peter McGinnis, Robin Browning, Daniel Crow, Nathan Evans, Bill Sainsbury, David Kirwan, Rula, Amy Harwood, Phil Illingworth, Dorothy Faulkner, Rachel Pedley, Hazel Corvin, Oli Knowles, the staff of the John Hansard Gallery, and all the others whose names I have not listed here.

You can now read the letter in full below.
