New Partnership Enabling Major Artist Commissions
‘a space’ arts are delighted to be hosting arts organisation Arts&Heritage at God’s House Tower in January 2020.
Arts&Heritage is a leading arts agency, that has worked nationally for over ten years to forge collaborations between contemporary artists and heritage organisations and museums.
The partnership is focused around Arts&Heritage’s Meeting Point programme. ‘Meeting Point supports the presentation of artworks in unexpected places by enabling small and medium scale museums to commission artists, who will create a piece of work in response to the venue. The programme aims to bring new visitors to participating museums, and position the museums as exciting places to see contemporary art.’
Five successful museum applicants from Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Isle of Wight will be selected to take part in a fully funded programme of lively and informed workshops that results in a new artwork responding to site and context.
God’s House Tower is to host an Information Event about the opportunity in partnership with Arts&Heritage on Monday 20th January. The day will be split in two with a morning session running from 10am – 12pm specifically for artists. This will be a general session that will focus on how to write an Expressions of Interest and Proposals when working with heritage sites. An afternoon session will follow from 12.30pm – 4pm for senior staff and board from museums of all sizes across Hampshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire with little previous experience of programming artists. This will be an information session for museums and heritage sites for how to be involved in Meeting Point.
“Arts & Heritage have a growing national profile so naturally we are excited to be involved in Meeting Point commissions in 2021. We’re expecting a lot of interest from both artists and the museums sector for January’s information event and look forward to welcoming them to God’s House Tower.” ‘a space’ arts Director Daniel Crow.
For more details see the Arts&Heritage website where there’s further information about booking onto both the morning and afternoon sessions of the Information Session at God’s House Tower.
