Now Seeking New Trustees

‘a space’ arts are at an exciting time of its development. We will become an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation (from April 2018), and are poised to refurbish Gods’ House Tower (GHT) and to create a new arts and heritage venue in Southampton’s old town (due to open January 2019).

To ensure the quality of our governance in supporting our ambition, we have undertaken a programme of board development and are now seeking two new Trustees to join our proactive board.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who can bring new perspectives and skills to the organisation, in particular a new Treasurer.

In addition, we are also especially interested in receiving applications from diverse Southampton communities to ensure the future board includes a range of local cultural perspectives.

About the organisation

The organisation is a registered charity and creates opportunities for artists to develop their careers and for audiences to engage with high quality arts and heritage experiences.

Since 2000 we have developed a project portfolio including the Northam Road Gallery, the Bargate Monument Galley, ArtVaults, the Arches Studios, Tower House and the Sorting Office. Through our ACE NPO agreement we’ll deliver a range of new projects across the next four years to complement the existing portfolio, alongside delivering our new flagship venue GHT.

Board and Commitment

The current board consists of 8 dedicated and focused members with a range of backgrounds and skill sets. The expansion of the board follows a governance review and is a strategic element to developing our work over the next 6-12 months.

The Board meets 6 times a year, with 2-hour evening meetings, from 18:00 – 20:00 at God’s House Tower, Southampton, including an AGM every March. In addition an annual away day assists to build relationships, with Trustees, also participating in specialist focus groups, e.g. Business Plan development.
