Update from The Arches

In the first of a series of regular articles we’ll be focusing on monthly activity from the Arches Studios.

Last weekend saw Arch 04 host residents Peter McGinnis, Tony Spencer and Jilly Evans who showed work as part the collaborative exhibition Flaunt It. Arch 04 has also hosted the latest in the bi-monthly Critical Exchange, led by Celeste Ingrams and Jilly Evans. The peer network group is open to all visual artists with the next one being held on Monday 6th January.

PLAYLIST also returns to the Arches on Thursday 12th December for their final show of the year.

Resident Dave Hubble is currently exhibiting a solo exhibition, Quantum Mechaninks, at October Books on Portswood Road, which runs until 14th January.

Jilly Evans also has a solo exhibition – in the Foyer of Southampton City Art Gallery. Her exhibition, Tag, takes a closer look at graffiti tagging, taking the letter-forms out of the urban environment and exploring them in more detail through cross-stitch. The show runs until 4th January.

Stewart Beckett has been exhibiting at Contemporary Art Fairs, meanwhile the Arches welcome a new resident in Dana Dohotaru.
