The Turning Point Bursary for Visual Artists

The Turning Point Bursary for Visual Artists programme (previously known as the Talent Development Bursary scheme) invites artists at a turning point in their career to propose and carry out a 6 month project of activities to develop their practice.

The programme acts a springboard to extend existing interests and explore new territories by enabling visual artists to propose a development project that is responsive to their needs, aligned with their practice, ambition, career position and long-term goals.

Since it’s first stage in 2019, ‘a space’ arts has awarded 15 artists based (living or working) in the Southampton postcode area a bursary of up to £1000 each to support their ongoing practice, and the artists have had the opportunity to exhibit in a group show at ‘a space’ arts award-winning flagship venue, God’s House Tower. You can find out more about the past/current recipients and their work below.

The 2022 Turning Point Bursary recipients will also be exhibiting at God’s House Tower this January. Fallow Fields is a new exhibition bringing together work by five local artists : Jennifer Anyan, Tracy Dovey, Elizabeth Hammond & Maija Liepens, and Linn O’Carroll.
