New Artist Development Officer Appointed

‘a space’ arts is delighted to have appointed Alys Scott-Hawkins as Artist Development Officer.

This is a completely new role within the organisation and has been made possible thanks to the National Portfolio status awarded to ‘a space’ arts earlier in the year.

Alys will be developing and implementing an Artist Development plan for visual artists across the city. Alys was a previous resident of both the Arches and Tower House while working as a freelance animation director and artist, and is therefore well placed to give a unique perspective on working as an artist in the city.

Alys has joined ‘a space’ arts from her most recent position as Senior Lecturer at Arts University Bournemouth.

‘This new job supporting artists brings together my background as an artist with my teaching experiences and research. I’m very excited about getting started in this new role.’

Alys is currently consulting with artists about the development activities that are being proposed for delivery. If you’re an artist living in the city, please take a moment to add your own feedback, the survey should take no longer than 10 minutes.

Artists are also being encouraged to meet Alys for informal one-to-one discussions, artists are welcome to book a slot.

There will also be an open Group Discussion session on Tuesday 18th September for artists to attend and inform the Artist Development plan, interested artists can book a place through eventbrite.

Please help by sharing the above with artists you know in the SO postcode.
