Exhibition: Telling My Story: from Darkness to Light

Community, Event, Exhibitions, Free, In Person

Thursday 28th – Sunday 31st August 2025

God's House Tower Town Quay Road SO14 2NY

About the exhibition:
Telling My Story: from Darkness to Light, is an exhibition of artwork by clients of Yellow Door – a Southampton based charity that supports people affected by domestic and sexual abuse.

Through a collection of paintings, drawings, sculptures, poetry and written word, victims and survivors share their stories of trauma, resilience, healing and recovery.

Each piece has been created whilst receiving support from Yellow Door and is testimony to the bravery of each individual exhibiting – an act of courage in reclaiming identity, voice, and power.

This exhibition invites the public to witness the reality of abuse, not through statistics, but through the eyes and hands of those who have lived it. By engaging with this work, we hope to create space for empathy, dialogue, and change.

About the Artists:
The artists exhibiting are all previous clients of Yellow Door.

About Yellow Door:
Yellow Door is an innovative local organisation offering trauma informed, evidence-based support for people of all ages and genders who are victims and survivors of domestic and sexual abuse.

Starting 40 years ago as a small volunteer-led helpline for women that had been raped or sexually assaulted, they now provide a range of therapeutic and educational services to children, young people, adults and families, which aim to raise awareness, prevent abuse, reduce harm, empower and support recovery, and help to rebuild lives.
