GHT Artist Shop 2026: Meet the New Cohort

‘a space’ arts is delighted to announce our new Artist Shop cohort, which launched at God’s House Tower (GHT).

This year’s shop features nine Hampshire-based artists, working across a wide range of mediums and styles. Over the next nine months, our audiences will be able to purchase the artists’ work, alongside a programme of workshops and events where visitors can take part and learn directly from the artists.

Meet our 2026 Artist Shop cohort:

Emma Tuck – Collage and Print

Emma’s work is collage-based using paper that has been sourced from Southampton City billboards. All pieces are unique and are made from remnants of billboards that she collects. They all tell a story and are given a location. Emma’s work looks at how cities hold stories of time and events, leaving traces of adverts and memories.

Izabela Majika – Jewellery

Izabela creates handcrafted silver jewellery inspired by the raw beauty of the Jurassic Coast, the sea, and the natural world. Each piece is made using recycled silver, reflecting a commitment to sustainability and thoughtful making. Her designs draw directly from organic textures and patterns found in nature — the spirals of ammonites, the weathered surfaces of shells, and the intricate markings of tree bark. These natural

forms are translated into tactile, timeless pieces that celebrate imperfection and the passage of time. Izabela’s latest collection explores a new source of inspiration: the worn and textured surfaces of GHT walls. By taking imprints from these urban materials, Izabela captures traces of history, erosion, and human presence, creating jewellery that sits at the intersection of nature, place, and memory. Each piece is a small imprint of a landscape — shaped by time, made by hand, and designed to be worn and treasured.

Cat A – Text Based Prints

Cat A is an artist working primarily with text, humour, and personal experience as a form of social commentary. Her practice spans hand-painted works (flags, banners, and bunting), paintings, found objects, and small editions, often using salvaged or everyday materials. Much of Cat’s work centres on language – things overheard, halfremembered, or emotionally loaded – and explores themes of identity, relationships, politics, and power. Cat uses bold capital lettering and a direct, conversational tone to blur the line between slogan, confession, and protest, often balancing seriousness with wit.

Mandy Smith – Printmaker

Primarily a printmaker who enjoys all types of printmaking but especially Lino, drypoint, screen printing and collagraph. Mandy enjoys creating images of local areas, places or things that she sees regularly, absorbing scenes and using local history knowledge to create new work. Mandy enjoys creating unique Southampton prints to celebrate the quirkiness of the area and its mix of historic buildings and industrial areas.

Rachel Reynolds – Printmaker and textiles designer

Rachel is a Southampton based artist and printed textile designer who creates original mixed-media artworks alongside luxury textiles, wallpaper, homeware, and stationery. Inspired by both nature and architecture, her practice explores the textures, patterns, and structures found in the British countryside and urban landscapes. By focusing on Southampton’s landmarks alongside its green spaces and natural details, her work offers a distinctive, locally rooted perspective that connects the city’s architecture with its landscape. Each piece reflects a balance between traditional processes and modern techniques, resulting in designs that feel both timeless and current.

Kama Mielczarek ‘Weird is the Best’ – Illustrator

Kama is a multi-faceted artist living in Southampton. In her work she uses many mediums to produce a wide range of products, from illustration, comics and zines, to stationery and original paintings. Kama brings together humour and an awe of nature to make works which are distinctly uplifting and joyful.

Stephanie James – Jewellery

Stephanie is a sculptor and a jeweller which she combines to make wearable art. Stephanie loves to put odd things together to make statement rings and bold necklaces using metals such as silver, brass, copper, bronze, clay and beads to make both sculpture and jewellery. Stephanie is interested in the aging female body and runs projects with other agingfemale artists in the New Forest providing an open and safe space to make work, learn techniques and share stories.

Sophie Rawlingson – Printmaker

Sophie began working as a digital illustrator who then brought illustrations to life with hand embroidery. As her artistic practice developed, she started experimenting with new materials, making wooden sculptures and paintings. Regardless of the medium, Sophie’s work is centred around flowers, taking inspiration from botanical designs from the Arts & Crafts movement and folk-art, but also sci-fi stories of plants that fight back. Sophie’s illustrative style is the result of lots of stylistic iteration over the years, putting a modern spin on older art styles, making her work feel familiar to people, while still being something new.

Emma Moules-Jones ‘Drawn by Emma Designs’ – Greetings Cards

Emma is a digital illustrator based in Southampton. Emma enjoys drawing in a clean, graphic style, usually focussing on nature-themed products such as greetings cards, gift wrap and prints
