Event: Pitch Your Project LGBTQIA+

Community, Event, Free, In Person, Talks

Friday 28th August 2026 6:00pm - 8:30pm

God's House Tower, Town Quay Road, Southampton, SO14 2NY

Join us at the Pitch Your Project Voting Event

Hear directly from the brilliant people behind creative community projects in your local area. There are so many groups and gatherings in Southampton that deserve more funding and more support. This is an opportunity for you to find out more about what they do and why they do it. Plus, you can play your part in their future by voting for the project you’d like to see awarded the funding.

Each community leader will have 10 minutes to pitch their project at the event, then voting will officially begin on Saturday 29th August.

The pitches will also be recorded and uploaded to the ‘a space’ arts YouTube Channel to give online audiences a chance to watch them and cast their votes.

About Pitch Your Project

Pitch Your Project offers a creative, community-focused initiative in the SO postcode £2000 to fund new activity. Projects are selected by the community, for the community, at a live event where applicants pitch their ideas to an audience who then vote for the projects they’d like to see awarded the funding.

To celebrate 10 years of Southampton Pride, this round of the Pitch Your Project bursary scheme is specifically for initiatives led by people who identify as LGBTQIA+. The winner will receive £2,000 to initiate a new project, or contribute to the ongoing work of an existing one.

About the Projects

Celebrating Our City: A New LGBTQIA+ Pride Flag for Southampton

Led by Joy McKay (@JoyStixx2806)

I want to work across the many LGBTQIA+ communities in Southampton running workshops to co-create a new flag proudly celebrating us. Gathering in Celebration: Sharing Songs of Hope for the Next 10 Years of Southampton Pride

Led by Kuch Bhogal (@kuchbhogal)

Making a decade of Southampton Pride, this project will transform LGBTQIA+ community members stories into an exhibition or songs, images and writing themed around the idea of hope for the future.

The Oracle of Gender Designation

Led by Jez Franck (@oracleofgender)

The Oracle of Gender Designations is an interactive installation that playfully explores the complexity, joy and absurdity of gender through games, ritual, performance and participation.

Transcribe: Everybody Transitions

Led by Abigail Parkes (@BeyondReflectUK)

Transcribe aims to provide paid opportunities to early career writers that will support their development artistically, empower trans+ people to share their experiences, and enrich awareness of the community.
