Join us for a creative workshop at God’s House Tower, putting your favourite slogans onto banners or t-shirts with local artist, Cat A
Come along to our hands-on T-Shirt & Banner Hand Painting Workshop, where you can turn your best (or worst) ideas and slogans into something you can wear.
Create your own slogan, choose your colours, get painting, and leave with a one-of-a-kind T-shirt or banner made by you. Come along and make something worth wearing.
Art materials and supplies will be provided for banners and decorating, as well as some t-shirts, but you’re very welcome to bring your own t-shirt for painting on!

About artist, Cat A
Cat A is an artist working primarily with text, humour, and personal experience as a form of social commentary. Her practice spans hand-painted works (flags, banners, and bunting), paintings, found objects, and small editions, often using salvaged or everyday materials. Much of Cat’s work centres on language – things overheard, half remembered, or emotionally loaded – and explores themes of identity, relationships, politics, and power. Cat uses bold capital lettering and a direct, conversational tone to blur the line between slogan, confession, and protest, often balancing seriousness with wit.
Cat A is part of our new Artist Shop Cohort. This year’s shop features nine Hampshire-based artists working across a wide range of mediums and styles. Over the next nine months, audiences will be able to purchase the artists’ work and take part in workshops and events, learning directly from the artists themselves.

Getting Here: GHT is a 25-minute walk from Southampton Central Train station and is on a number of local bus routes. Our closest car parks are Gloucester Square and Mayflower park. This part of the city can get very busy with traffic from the cruise ship terminals on Saturdays so please do allow for extra time if you’re driving.
