As God’s House Tower’s latest exhibition ‘For My Only Love, Yours in Body and Soul’ comes to an end, you’re invited to join us at our exhibition closing event and hear from the artist behind the works.
Presented as part of GHT’s Black History Month programme, ‘For My Only Love, Yours in Body and Soul’ is a new body of work by multi-disciplinary artist Ebun Sodipo. Merging visual art and sound, the exhibition tells a fictional love story of a woman from Southampton and her lover at sea, referencing the changing attitudes towards Africans and their descendants in Southampton between the 16th and 20th century. Through an assemblage of archival imagery and an emotive narration of love letters and messages that span centuries, Ebun invites audiences to imagine a speculative past and create links between what they hear and see.
At the closing event, you’ll have one final chance to explore the exhibition and immerse yourself in Ebun’s works before it comes to an end. ‘a space’ arts Creative Programme Manager Mia Delve will be sharing more about the commission and artist Ebun Sodipo will be sharing an exclusive reading for audiences.
The ‘For My Only Love, Yours in Body and Soul’ closing event takes place on Friday 4th November from 7pm to 9pm at GHT. Get your free ticket on Eventbrite here
