This event is specifically for senior staff and board from museums of all sizes across Hampshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. An Information Event for artists interested in commissions will be run on the morning of the same day.
Five successful applicants from Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Isle of Wight will be selected to take part in a fully funded programme of lively and informed workshops that results in a new artwork responding to site and context.
Find out about this highly regarded, competitive Arts Council-funded programme led by Arts&Heritage that mentors and funds museum staff as they commission a new artwork with an artist, writer, performer or musician for their site.
This unique opportunity gives you a chance to develop a brief to meet a need identified by your museum – whether that need is around engaging with new audiences, reinterpreting your collections or telling a new story about your site. As part of the process, museums will benefit from support, expertise and funding to deliver a high-quality new work for your museum or heritage site.
This 2-year fully funded programme includes visits to artists’ studios, meeting with art curators and learning from peers who have been part of previous programmes. Participants receive and manage an £11,000 commissioning budget, with additional PR and marketing support supplied by Arts&Heritage. They will also receive £500 for bespoke marketing and £500 for bespoke engagement activity to promote and raise the profile of their projects.
