Mentor Mondays is back this January, and we’re pleased to be joined by Artist Development Specialist and curator Mark Devereux.

For the January session, Mark will be offering support, advice and guidance for artists and art workers living or working in the SO postcode area. This opportunity would be particularly suited to those working in fields such as curation and artist development, or those who explore are interested in social and performative practices.

These sessions are free and open to those living and working in the SO postcode area. The 1-to-1’s will take place online via Zoom and you will be sent a link ahead of your session. There are only three sessions available so early booking is advised to avoid missing out.

About the Mentor

Mark Devereux is an Artist Development Specialist and Curator with over 17-years’ experience in the arts sector, specialising in artist professional development, curation, production and project management. 

After practicing as an artist following his graduation from BA Photography and MA Fine Art at Staffordshire University, he found his passion and skills to be within facilitation and supporting artists. 

Between 2006 – 2012, Mark founded and directed Blank Media Collective and later BLANKSPACE Gallery in Manchester, swiftly establishing a reputation for unearthing exciting emerging talent.

In 2013 Mark established Mark Devereux Projects to support and nurture early-career talent. Since this time, he has collaborated with and supported hundreds of artists across the UK and Internationally. Mark has curated exhibitions, produced participatory events, and facilitated professional development programmes with a range of partners across the UK.

About Mentor Mondays

Part of ‘a space’ arts expanded Artist Voices Programme, Mentor Mondays invites visual arts professionals from across the UK to hold zoom 1-to-1 sessions with artists & artworkers from the SO postcode area.

On one Monday of every month we will offer three 45 minute 1-to-1 sessions on zoom which will be available to book on a first come first serve basis.

1-to-1s will be led by mentors with wide-ranging professional visual arts experience: curating, writing, fundraising, publishing, commercial art and more. These sessions are designed to support with critical feedback on work, funding advice, and developing career strategies.
