Open Doors: 20 Years of the Arches

This summer, join us for a vibrant celebration of creativity, community and collaboration as Arches Studios marks 20 years of supporting artists in Southampton. For two decades, Arches has provided a unique, inclusive and supportive space for artists to explore, develop and share their work. Now, we invite you to be part of the celebration.

 

Join us for Open Doors on Saturday 12th July & Sunday 13th July, from 10am – 5pm on both days.

 

All 25 resident artists will open their studios to the public. Visitors are invited to step inside these working spaces, browse artworks available for sale, and speak to the artists directly about their practice.

The artist’s studio is a space for inspiration, creativity and expression. It’s a playground and a laboratory; a space for experimentation, testing out new ideas, taking risks, for trying – and failing. It’s a safe space too; a cocoon, a home, a sanctuary. A space for thinking and reflection, for criticality and consideration. In the artist’s studio, you may be able to trace the journey of an artwork, from concept to completion. Or you might notice the seed of an idea, germinating, ready to grow.
