'a space' arts have been awarded National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) status

We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) status by Arts Council England (ACE) for the second time.

NPO status establishes organisations as leaders in their areas, with a collective responsibility to protect, enhance and develop the country’s arts and cultural ecology. NPOs are supported by public funding, and as such we have a responsibility to deliver impactful and innovative programmes that reach the most people possible. The announcement by ACE will enable us to continue our mission to support and help develop artists in Southampton, as well as working with and engaging new communities and audiences.

‘a space’ arts Director, Daniel Crow, commented: “We are thrilled to be able to continue our mission to support artists and engage audiences in Southampton and beyond. ACE’s investment in ‘a space’ arts will make a significant contribution to the organisation and will be a huge boost across all our current projects. We’re grateful to ACE for their continued endorsement and support, and would also like to congratulate all of the successful applicants across the region.

“It is a huge privilege to be part of the ACE National Portfolio and we’re excited to be able to continue to developing as an organisation and contributing to the cultural ambitions of our great city. We are passionate and excited about reaching more communities and increasing the diversity of representation across Southampton’s arts landscape. Everyone at ‘a space’ is looking forward to writing our next chapter – thank you ACE.”

“We appreciate there won’t have been good news for some applicants we offer our sympathies to those who missed out and wish them all the best in their next steps.”
