Arches Open Studios: Artist led Activity

As we continue to focus on the various elements of the Arches Open Studios programme on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd June, this week we look at some of the artist led activities which are at an all time high for this year’s Open Studios.

On Saturday sculptor Chris Cudlip will be in his studio working on a new environmental sculpture, the demonstration will be from 11am – 1pm and from 2pm – 4pm. Then on Sunday Chris will be giving Portrait Sculpture workshops where he will be teaching some of the fundamentals of portrait sculpture, working in clay. Arrive at 11am to join this small class of 6, as this activity is likely to fill up quickly!

Hazel Corvin and Emma Harris will be running an interactive exhibition of Feminist Ephemera including collage, zines, journaling and badges. In the back room of Arch 04 artist, J Walters, will be welcoming participants to join in a workshop drawing glow-in-the-dark monsters.

Peter McGinnis and Tony Spencer will be collaborating on a site specific installation, The Church of David Hockney, in Space 7.5. The work will consider the relationship between art and faith.

Meanwhile Nicola Anderson will be transforming her studio to explore technical excellence to mark the 50th anniversary of the moon landings.

There’s many more artist led activities across the weekend as well as street food stalls, pop-up bar, live music and much more.
