'Inspirational Women Artists' launches this month

We’re celebrating International Women’s Day 2022 with the launch of ‘Inspirational Women Artists’, an exciting new exhibition and silent auction taking place at our flagship venue God’s House Tower this February and March.

Having previously released a call out for female identifying and non-binary artists to submit works inspired by their favourite women artists, we’re overjoyed to have received over ninety submissions of works created through a variety mediums, from artists both locally and nationally. From intricate illustrations to graphic prints and quirky collages, you’ll have the chance to explore this collection of powerful and thought-provoking works highlighting the influential impact of women artists past and present and how their legacy has inspired the artists of today. You will have the chance to take home the works on display as there will be a silent auction taking place throughout the duration of the exhibition, raising funds for Yellow Door, a Southampton-based charity that prevents and responds to domestic and sexual abuse. For each artwork sold, 50% of the proceeds will go to the artist who made the work and 50% will be donated to Yellow Door, a Southampton-based charity that prevents and responds to domestic and sexual abuse.

We will also be hosting a celebration event on the evening of Tuesday 8th March, bringing together the artists involved and the local community as we find out how much money has been raised in total and hear from artist Emily Peasgood on her practice, experiences as a female artist and her upcoming exhibition at God’s House Tower.

Inspirational Women Artists opens at GHT from Friday 25th February to Sunday 6th March and is free to enter. Find out more here
