Introducing Mentor Mondays

As part of ‘a space’ arts expanded Artist Voices programme, we’re delighted to introduce Mentor Mondays, a new series of 1-to-1 sessions for local artists and artworkers.

Hosted on one Monday of every month, we will be offering three 45 minute 1-to-1 sessions to artists and those working in the wider arts sector and who are from the SO postcode area. The sessions will be available to book on a first come first serve basis via our website.

This exciting series of 1-to-1s will be led by mentors with wide-ranging professional visual arts experience, from curating and writing to fundraising, publishing, commercial art and more. These sessions are designed to support local creatives with critical feedback on work, funding advice, and developing career strategies, through the guidance and insight of prominent arts professionals.

The first Mentor Mondays will take place on Monday 16th May, between 9am and 11am, with artist, curator and writer Kinnari Saraiya. Working across film, interactive 3D, installation, animation, sculpture, folk dance and sound, Kinnari’s work blends memories of her ancestral self into nested colonial realities to build a third space, beyond binaries, that is virtual, transnational and diasporic. Kinnari has won several awards since graduating in 2020 and has exhibited in over 20 exhibitions nationally and internationally, most notably at the Kyiv Biennial 2021 Allied, curated by members of the East Europe Biennial Alliance. Earlier in 2021, she was recognised to be of exceptional promise by the Arts Council England. She currently works at BALTIC Center for Contemporary Art as a Curatorial Fellow, supported by Frieze and Deutsche Bank.
