A follow-up Visual Arts Consultation Meeting

If you couldn’t join the last one, please join us for the next City of Culture Visual Arts Consultation meeting.

It was brilliant to see so many new and familiar faces at the recent CHAOS City of Culture meeting, where bid director Claire Whitaker gave an overview of her professional background and answered questions about the Southampton 2025 project so far.

If you couldn’t attend, we have some exciting news for you!

As you may be aware, ‘a space’ arts director Dan Crow is leading the visual arts working group for the bid, and would like to invite you, a valued member of Southampton’s arts community, to a follow-up meeting.

At this next event we would like to continue the conversations about what City of Culture could mean for Southampton artists, what you want to get out of this exciting opportunity, and to give you the chance to air your thoughts, ask questions, and make your voices heard.

Dan will then have a better understanding of how he can help the visual arts community, and feed back your concerns / views to the bid committee.

As stated elsewhere, the bid is still in the very early stages. Themes are yet to be developed, but director Claire Whitaker has said that she is committed to honouring artists’ ideas and we would like to make sure that the arts community in Southampton is an integral part of the process.

If you haven’t done so already, we would urge you to sign up the CHAOS network. CHAOS is the forum for all City of Culture discussions and information. Sign up here.

For this ‘a space’ meeting on December 15th at 5pm, you will need to book a place. Please do so here. If you have any access requirements, please let Alys know at alys@aspacearts.org.uk (and put City of Culture access requirements meeting in the subject line).

City of Culture will be a fantastic opportunity for Southampton – and we want you to be an integral part of the bid process.

See you on December 15th!
