Venice Art Biennale Steward-Research Fellowships

‘a space’ is partnering with the British Council to invite applications from visual artists (living or working in the SO postcode area) for Steward-Research Fellowships to take place during the Venice Art Biennale 2019.

Three successful candidates will spend four weeks in Venice between 11th May – 24th Nov 2019. They will work for three to four days per week as an invigilator in the British Pavilion, with the remaining time used for research either around the Biennale theme ‘May You Live in Interesting Times’, in response to the work of artist Cathy Wilkes, on show in the British Pavilion, or in response to Venice itself. Fellows will receive a grant of £1,600 to cover travel, accommodation and living costs.

Interested artists are invited to attend an information session from 4.30-6.30pm on Friday 30th November. Click here to book a place.

Artist Development Officer Alys Scott-Hawkins will be available to meet one-to-one on 4th or 11th December to provide support with completing the application form.

The deadline for submissions is 9am on Monday 17 December 2018.

Artists shortlisted by ‘a space’ will be interviewed by the British Council between 7th – 11th January 2019. The three selected artists will need to be available to attend the British Council’s Induction School in London on 26th – 27th February 2019.
