We are pleased to welcome Kirstie Banks to the staff team. Kirstie has joined the ‘a space’ arts team as Communications Intern and will help to develop communications across the ‘a space’ 2021 programme.
Kirstie comes from a multi-disciplinary arts background with a diverse range of experience, from communications to workshop facilitation. Growing up in Portsmouth and having graduated from Solent University with an MA in Creative Direction for Fashion and Beauty, Kirstie has a keen interest in fashion theory and has recently developed an instagram platform @dressbodyself which visually explores the practice and theory of dress and identity. She is also proud of her hometown Portsmouth and celebrates the city through her instagram @pompeyisms.
As a Solent Uni graduate, Kirstie is invested in the development of the arts community in Southampton. She is passionate in celebrating the city’s rich heritage and creative identity, as well as providing opportunities for creatives and emerging artists, particularly from marginalised and low socio-economic backgrounds, to engage with the arts.
On joining the team, Kirstie said: “I’m really excited to be working with the ‘a space’ team and grateful for the opportunity to learn more about the important work they do to celebrate and support the local creative community whilst developing my skills. I’m really proud to see such a brilliant organisation champion the work of creatives in Southampton and I feel lucky to be a part of it.”
